Got A Social Media Budget? Get A 20% Raise
Hellerman Baretz Communications teamed up with the Law Firm Media Professionals (LFMP) for the second annual Salary & Social Media Survey of legal media professionals. This year, it added a more comprehensive section on social media, and got some great insights from respondents on the industry’s biggest challenges and most exciting trends.
Some of the highlights of the survey include:
- Although 85% of respondents recognize social media as being important to law firms (up from 65%), they ranked social media training and development of content for social media at the bottom of activities they put the most effort into;
- The salaries of respondents whose firms budgeted for social media was 19% higher than those whose firms did not, and the salary of those whose firms used an outside PR/communications agency was 24% higher than those whose firms did not.
- Twitter, used by 69% of firms versus 47% last year, is now considered the second-most valuable social media platform, behind only LinkedIn;
- Only 31% of firms have a budget for social media activities, a figure that is down from 40% last year; and
- Respondents in the Northeast (28%), Mid-Atlantic (17%), and West/Southwest (44%) all reported higher average salaries.
